Effective and state-of-the art sun protection is more important than ever for many builders, planners and architects today - and demand in the corresponding market segment will continue to rise in the future. The Nice Group is reacting to this development and positioning itself even more strongly in this important area with the new business unit “Sun Shading Solutions”.
The new business unit is responsible for all sun protection operations of the group with the brands elero, Nice and TTGO. It includes the applications roller shutters, textile sun protection, Venetian blinds, interior shading and façade. Head of the business unit is Enzo Viola, Managing Director of the renowned German drive and control manufacturer elero. As of 1 January 2021, the business unit will use its combined expertise to drive the topic of sun protection forward worldwide. In his expanded role, Viola will continue to report directly to Roberto Griffa, CEO of Nice Group.
Elero has long been known for its innovative and reliable drive solutions for roller shutters and sun protection systems “made in Germany”. Most recently, the company set a new standard in roller shutter automation with the quiet RolMotion roller shutter drive and the solar-powered RolSolar M-868 DC.
The well-known drive manufacturer is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Italian Nice Group, one of the leading suppliers of a wide range of products in the fields of home automation, home security and smart home solutions. Innovative concepts for light management and sun protection for private households as well as industrial companies are an important pillar within the versatile, integrable product portfolio.

With the market proximity and experience of a traditional German company and the strength of a globally active player, we have everything we need to do this,” explains Enzo Viola. The advantages of the new business unit are manifold: In future, product innovations can be driven forward even more strongly, and strategies can be adapted more precisely to the respective markets and their needs.
At the Smart Forum, Enzo Viola will also be giving presentations for elero and Sun Shading Solutions. The presentation will also include the RolMotion drive, which has been entered for the Innovation Award. Thanks to its optimised running behaviour, it has an almost noiseless slow speed which can be activated by the user at the push of a button. Automatic commands are always executed in whisper mode.
